The Elks are the largest provider private college scholarships in the United States. As with everything else in the organization, these start at the local level:

• The Santa Cruz Elks Lodge sponsors six scholarships (three young men and three young women).
• The State Association sponsors both Vocational Scholarships and Undergraduate Scholarships for Students with Disabilities
• The Grand Lodge sponsors 500 Educational Scholarships ranging from $4000 to $50,000 as well as a Legacy Scholarship
